Goodreads Synopsis: “What would you do if your heart was torn between saving yourself or your first love? For Nessa that question is a reality. If she is not surrendered to Central in a week, then Garrett will be executed and war will ensue.

Countless lives rest on the shoulders of eighteen year old Nessa. Is she strong enough to surrender herself to the government that’s holding Garrett hostage? Can she sacrifice the life she’s built to save him? Life comes down to a series of decisions, the question is; could this be her last.”

Plot: 4/5 Stars

I thought the plot was very good. It in a way, reminds me of Mockingjay, but a lot better.

I enjoyed how the plot progressed. We started off with a slow setting, gets faster, more action, slow, action, a little more, ACTION, action action, slow and slow action.

I also loved how it wasn’t centered around the love triangle. Most YA trilogies only focus on the love. This book focused on the action and the plot with in turn, made me love this book more. Sure there were key moments with love triangle stuff, but it never overshadowed the plot.

Characters: 4.5/5 Stars

The characters were well rounded. Even the characters we only knew for 5 minutes, they had depth.

Nessa is the main character. She was extremely brave. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was how she was selfless, but everyone thought she would be selfish if she knew the truth.

Ty was better than he was in the first book. In this book, we see more of his hurt and caring side.

Garrett. We don’t see much of him in this book, so I can’t really judge him.

Do I have a ship yet? Can’t decide. I like both.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
